West Brom vs Swansea Prediction, Tips & Stats

West Bromwich Albion will play hosts to Swansea City at The Hawthorns this weekend with the Baggies looking for their first win of the season after a dreadful beginning to the 2023/24 season that has seen them lose twice already.

This match will also be the first home game for West Brom, as the club went on to lose away from home to Blackburn Rovers after a goal from Matty Phillips in the second half. The Midlands side then went on to lose to Stoke City in the EFL Cup first round, as Brandon Thomas-Asante equalised in the second half only to concede a goal seconds later.

Swansea drew 1-1 at home to Birmingham City in their opening game where Jerry Yates scored an equaliser in the second half of the game. The Swans produced six shots on target that day from 15 efforts and went on to have 60% of the ball too.

The Welsh side then produced eight shots on target from 22 shots towards goal against League One side Northampton Town, as Joel Piroe scored a brace with a goal in either half. Josh Ginnelly scored in the 94th minute to secure passage into round two of the EFL Cup.

          Swansea team news

Jerry Yates and Joel Piroe have already got off to goalscoring starts in the new season and will line up together once more. Jay Fulton, Max Grimes and Paterson should all remain in midfield, but Joe Allen is expected to get some minutes as well, as is Josh Ginnelly. Andy Fisher will drop back out for Rushworth in goal, and Liam Cullen could get some more minutes off the bench too.

          West Brom team news

Thomas-Asante will lead the line once more for West Brom, as Matt Phillips aims for another goal alongside Molumbu and Jed Wallace in the attacking midfield ranks. Nathaniel Chalobah and Yokuslu started against Blackburn in midfield and should remain here - the latter was also booked and came off with a niggle in the second half but should be fit to play here. Conor Townsend, Semi Ajayi, Kipre and Daniel Furlong are expected in defence too, although Kyle Bartley has returned to fitness. Alex Mowatt, Taylor Gardner-Hickman and Jeremy Sarmiento are all expected to get minutes in this game as well.
