FC Copenhagen vs Chelsea Prediction

Chelsea’s strength in depth has been on show this season in this competition, with Enzo Maresca using this competition to full effect and still showing enough to secure progress thus far in this competition. Now the latter stages are starting to take place, we expect Chelsea to overcome Copenhagen in the first leg.

FC Copenhagen won’t make things easy for the Premier League side, as the Danish league leaders are unbeaten in their previous four matches and scoring first in five of the last six games in all competitions.

Chelsea have been excellent in this competition, recording six victories from their six league phase games. In this competition, goals are normally a custom for Chelsea games, with the Blues scoring at last twice in their six games thus far.

Chelsea have also been involved in high-scoring games this season, with Over 2.5 goals scored in the last nine involving the Blues.

This game will follow the same trend here and we see Chelsea taking an emphatic first-leg lead.

FC Copenhagen 1-3 Chelsea.

FC Copenhagen vs Chelsea Preview & Prediction

UEFA Europa Conference League favourites Chelsea, travel to Copenhagen to face a Danish side who will provide a stern test in comparison to Chelsea’s opponents in the competition so far.

Date: 06/03/2025
Location: Parken, Copenhagen.
Kick-Off: 17.45 pm

FC Copenhagen have enjoyed a fine season in the Danish Superliga, with the former Champions currently in first place heading into the Championship phase of the league season. The points system in the division, will mean that should Copenhagen remain top of their league after the initial phase, they will also lead the Championship phase heading into the final remainder of the season. The home side were relatively poor in the UEFA Europa Conference League phase, with the Danish side finishing 18th and with eight points from six matches.

As for Chelsea, their goals this season have slowly dwindled in the last two months, with the Blues now in a huge battle for the top-four race and eliminated from both domestic cups in the early rounds. Enzo Maresca’s side were being mentioned in the same breath as the eventual, at this point, Champions Liverpool.

However, their form over Christmas has seen them slip into a top-four battle with the likes of Manchester City, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and potentially Bournemouth. Chelsea are fifth in the Premier League, which, based on the coefficient this year, would see them take that final UEFA Champions League spot.

Where to watch

The game will be available to watch on TNT Sports 4.

Team News

FC Copenhagen Team News

FC Copenhagen have some notable names in their ranks, with Thomas Delaney (formerly of Sevilla) and Mohamed Elyounoussi (formerly of Southampton in their ranks).

Chelsea Team News

Chelsea are expected to be rotated once again, like they have done in this competition. Wesley Fofana could start on Thursday after he returned to the Matchday squad against Southampton.

Form Guide

The two sides met twice in the UEFA Champions League group stages in the 2010/11 season, with the Blues recording a 2-0 victory in Copenhagen and a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.

FC Copenhagen are in impressive form coming into this game, with the Danish Superliga leaders unbeaten in their last four matches. The home side have also scored first in five of their last six matches. FC Copenhagen have recorded three wins in their last four matches, beating the likes of Heidenheim (1-3), Midtjylland (1-0) and Randers (1-2).

On home soil, the home side have been excellent, with five wins from their last six home matches - only losing a single game to Heidenheim (1-2). Four of their home wins include victories over Viborg (1-0), Lyngby (3-0), Kolding IF (1-0) and Hearts (2-0).

Chelsea’s form heading into this game is less than desirable for Enzo Maresca, who has been feeling the underlying frustration at Chelsea this season. The Blues have won only twice in their last five matches in all competitions, that being a London derby win against West Ham United (2-1) and a victory against strugglers Southampton (4-0).

A game against this level of opposition could benefit Chelsea’s away form, which has seen the Blues remain winless in their last four on their travels and having lost their previous four away matches.
