Real Betis vs Chelsea Prediction

Chelsea should be the favourites for this contest on Wednesday. However, they will have to be wary of a Real Betis side, which have shown in this competition through their performances that they can certainly threaten the Blues.

Real Betis are not in particularly great form heading into the final, as the Spanish outfit have gone winless in their previous five matches, although the significant draw against Fiorentina helped Manuel Pellegrini’s side reach the final. The issue for Betis, however, has been their frailties at the back, with no clean sheets in their last 11 matches.

Chelsea can exploit their fragile defence, as the Blues have scored first in six of their last seven matches. Enzo Maresca’s side have only lost once in this competition this season and have the experience of winning their previous three European finals they have been involved in.

The Blues ended the season well, with seven wins from their previous eight matches in all competitions and with securing Champions League football, the Blues should edge out a victory here.

We are going for a 2-1 Chelsea victory. Both teams have scored in the last 10 games involving Pellegrini’s side, so evidently, they will provide an attacking threat. Still, Chelsea’s overall quality should see them as Europa Conference League winners.

Real Betis 1-2 Chelsea

Real Betis vs Chelsea Preview & Prediction

Chelsea will want to keep their momentum going and complete the set of European trophies on Wednesday, when they take on Real Betis in Wroclaw, Poland.

Date: 28/05/2025
Location: Wroclaw, Poland. Tarczynski Arena Wroclaw.
Kick-Off: 8 pm

Chelsea’s Premier League campaign ended on an excellent note for the Blues, following their crucial 1-0 victory against Nottingham Forest. The Blues have made a return to the UEFA Champions League for next season, by finishing fourth in the Premier League, and now they have the opportunity to end the season with silverware, which would mark an excellent debut campaign for former Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca.

The Blues were seen as overwhelming favourites for this competition, and their run has seen them only lose once along the way against Legia Warsaw. That loss was irrelevant, as the Blues already had a commanding 3-0 lead from the first leg, which the Polish outfit was never going to overcome. Chelsea have beaten the likes of Legia Warsaw, FC Copenhagen and Swedish side Djurgarden in the semi-finals.

Real Betis are in a similar position to Chelsea, in that European football has already been achieved through their league standing. The Spanish side will partake in next season’s UEFA Europa League regardless of the result because of their sixth-place league finish, as they finished 10 points behind Villarreal. Manchester United loanee Antony has been a revelation since his January arrival from Old Trafford and will be key to Betis’ chances on Wednesday. The Brazilian forward has provided 7G/A in eight UEFA Europa Conference League appearances.

Real Betis have beaten the likes of Gent, Vitoria SC and Italian side Fiorentina to reach the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Team News

Real Betis Team News

Chimy Avila, Hector Bellerin, William Carvalho, Cucho Hernandez, Johnny Cardoso and Giovani Lo Celso are expected to be the major injury concerns for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. All players listed are expected to be unavailable for this fixture.

Chelsea Team News

Wesley Fofana and Mykhailo Mudryk are both expected to miss the final. Omari Kellyman is also ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Chelsea has largely used fringe players in this competition and will likely field a full-strength side in order to overcome the challenge of Real Betis.

Form Guide

Real Betis:

Real Betis will hope their recent form doesn’t forebode a defeat in the final against Chelsea. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are winless in their previous five matches, which include four draws and a defeat to Atletico Madrid (4-1). The Spanish side have recorded draws against Valencia (1-1), Rayo Vallecano (2-2), Osasuna (1-1) and Fiorentina (2-2).

The draw against Fiorentina could be classed as a victory, as it allowed Real Betis to progress into the competition's final. Antony was on hand to potentially secure the tie for Betis, until a first-half brace from Robin Gosens took the tie to extra time. A goal from Adessamad Ezzalzouli secured the victory for Real Betis.

Chelsea:

Chelsea are coming into this final, with excellent form having won six of their last seven matches in all competitions, with their only defeat to Newcastle United (2-0), in which Nicolas Jackson was dismissed for a reckless challenge on Sven Botman. The Blues had recorded consecutive victories against Manchester United (1-0) and the important victory against Nottingham Forest (0-1) at the weekend, in which Levi Colwill secured Champions League football for Enzo Maresca’s side.

Chelsea have a strong record in European finals, winning four of their previous five appearances in 2012 (UCL), 2013 (UEL), 2019 (UEL), and 2021 (UCL). Their only defeat in their last five European finals was the 2008 Champions League final loss against fellow English side, Manchester United.
