The Europa League final is certainly one of the more intriguing finals in recent memory as the final pits two clubs who have been struggling horrendously given their expectations in the league this season.
Tottenham Hotspur have had the advantage over Manchester United in recent years, with Ange Postecoglou’s side unbeaten since 2022 against the Red Devils. This season, Spurs have recorded three victories against Ruben Amorim’s side and scored first in four of the previous five meetings.
Manchester United are the only club in Europe who have remained unbeaten in European competition this season, which included knocking out the favourites for the competition in Athletic Club.
The advantage for the Red Devils is that history in finals falls in their favour. Tottenham Hotspur have lost their last three finals in the past decade (2015,2019 & 2021), whereas Manchester United have the experience with the likes of Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes to see them over the line. Ruben Amorim’s side have won two of their previous three cup finals and are on course for three consecutive seasons with silverware.
The experience should see Manchester United as winners here. The Red Devils have also shown toughness through adversity in this competition, evidenced by their comeback against Lyon, and if Spurs score first, as history suggests, United have the experience to pull victory from the jaws of defeat.
Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Manchester United.
