Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa Prediction

Crystal Palace versus Aston Villa is an intriguing match-up in the FA Cup, as this competition represents a fantastic opportunity for both teams to win silverware.

The Eagles can take some form of momentum heading into this game following their excellent 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Wednesday night, while Aston Villa will be looking to take out their frustrations of Tuesday night’s narrow 2-1 defeat to Manchester City by progressing to the FA Cup final. Their defeat at the Etihad Stadium severely damaged their aspirations of qualifying for next season’s Champions League, meaning that full focus may be on the FA Cup.

Unai Emery’s men are favourites heading into this game, as they do have a superior squad to the Eagles on top of the fact that they had earned impressive wins over Southampton (3-0), PSG (3-2) and Newcastle United (4-1) in the run-up to their loss at the Etihad Stadium.

Oliver Glasner’s side are actually winless in their last four outings, conceding 12 goals in the process. With the Both Teams to Score market landing in four of Villa’s last five matches, we are predicting a hard-fought win for Emery’s men in this Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Aston Villa

Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa Prediction & Preview

Crystal Palace goes head-to-head with Aston Villa in the semi-final of the FA Cup, with the winner set to face one of Nottingham Forest or Manchester City in the final.

Date: 26/04/2025

Location: Villa Park

Time: 5:15pm

This will be the fourth time that Crystal Palace and Aston Villa have faced off this season, as Palace beat Villa 2-1 in the League Cup at Villa Park back on 30th October thanks to goals by Eberechi Eze and Daichi Kamada on either side of Jhon Duran’s 23rd-minute equaliser.

As far as league encounters go, the Eagles earned four points against Villa, as the initial meeting at Villa Park on 23rd November resulted in a 2-2 draw as a 77th-minute Ross Barkley equaliser salvaged a point for Unai Emery’s side. At Selhurst Park, Palace earned an emphatic 4-1 victory in late February as Ismaila Sarr scored a brace, while Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eddie Nketiah also got on the scoresheet.

In the Premier League, Crystal Palace are 12th in the standings with 45 points from 34 matches, seeing them sit four points adrift of eighth-place AFC Bournemouth, meanwhile, Aston Villa are 7th having earned 57 points from the same number of games. The Villa Park club are two points adrift of fifth-place Newcastle United, having played a game more than the Magpies, meaning that Champions League qualification looks unlikely at this point with so few matches to play.

Crystal Palace’s FA Cup campaign started with a narrow 1-0 win over Stockport County in the Third Round, before progressing past the likes of Doncaster Rovers (2-0), Millwall (3-1) and Fulham (3-0).

On the other hand, Aston Villa managed to navigate their way through tricky ties against West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur via 2-1 scorelines before facing Championship opposition in Cardiff City and Preston North End, beating the latter two sides 2-0 and 3-0.

Form Guide

Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner’s side last managed a win on 5th April against Brighton & Hove Albion, as Jean-Philippe Mateta and Daniel Munoz scored on either side of a Danny Welbeck equaliser.

Following that derby day victory, Palace suffered heavy defeats to Manchester City (5-2) and Newcastle United (5-0) before drawing 0-0 at home with AFC Bournemouth and 2-2 away at Arsenal.

Aston Villa

Villa enters this game off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City, where Matheus Nunes fired in a 94th-minute winner for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Prior to that match, Emery’s men had earned back-to-back league victories over Newcastle United (4-1) and Southampton (3-0) while suffering a narrow 5-4 aggregate defeat to PSG despite beating the Ligue 1 champions 3-2 in the second-leg at Villa Park following goals by Youri Tielemans, John McGinn and Ezri Konsa.
