In the Fourth Round of the FA Cup, two-time runners-up Crystal Palace makes the trip north to the Eco-Power Stadium where they’ll face League Two outfit, Doncaster Rovers.
Date: 10/02/2025
Location: Eco-Power Stadium
Time: 7:45pm
The last meeting between these two sides was as recent as February 2019 where Palace emerged as 2-0 victors at Doncaster, thanks to first-half goals from Jeffrey Schlupp and Max Meyer.
Doncaster are having a superb season to date, as Grant McCann’s side sit second in League Two with 52 points from 29 matches, seven points adrift of runaway leaders Walsall.
Rovers have gone from strength to strength under the ex-Peterborough manager, McCannn, as they finished fifth in League Two last campaign following an excellent run of results that saw them sneak into the play-off place having won 13 of their last 16 league games prior to their play-off semi-final defeat to Crewe Alexandra.
So far this season, they are 19 points away from matching last season’s points tally with 17 games to spare and a much more settled squad. One signing to note is the return of ex-Sheffield United forward Billy Sharp to their ranks, the 38-year-old made his return to Doncaster in the summer after 12-years away and has scored 10 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions thus far.
In the FA Cup, Doncaster have had to play through three rounds to reach the Fourth Round, of which it all started with a 1-0 win against Barrow AFC at Holker Street in the First Round, before beating Kettering 2-1 (after extra time) and Championship side Hull City on penalties after a 1-1 draw at the MKM Stadium.
On the other hand, Crystal Palace have made a marked improvement since the start of the season, as Glasner’s men initially started their Premier League campaign with no wins in eight matches, however, since then, they have now won seven of their last 16, seeing the Eagles sit 12th in the league standings.
The Eagles managed to reach the quarter-finals of the League Cup this campaign where they were beaten 3-2 away at Arsenal after knocking out the likes of Norwich City, QPR and Aston Villa in previous rounds.
Glasner’s men scraped a 1-0 win over Stockport County in the Third Round of the FA Cup as Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the game after four minutes. Palace’s two FA Cup final appearances came back in 1990 and 2016, of which they suffered defeats to Manchester United on both occasions.
