It's the League One playoff final this Monday when Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday clash at Wembley with the hopes high from both sides for a spot in the Championship for next season.
Wednesday produced arguably the greatest comeback of the season when they met with Peterborough United last time out, and that 5-1 win will go down as perhaps the best comeback in EFL history. The Owls were 4-0 down ahead of the second leg and ended up winning the game on penalties.
Michael Smith scored early on that day before Lee Gregory netted in the 25th minute of the game as Reece James also scored. Stunningly, Liam Palmer netted a goal in the 98th minute of the game to take things to extra time, but an own goal from Gregory handed the Posh the lead on aggregate. However, Callum Paterson soon scored to take things to penalties where Wednesday won 5-3.
Darren Moore's men did finish above Barnsley in the table by 10 points and scored one more goal while letting in 10 fewer as well. The Yorkshire side also won two more games and lost six fewer.
Barnsley made much easier work of their League One playoff battle with Bolton Wanderers than Wednesday, as the club went on to defeat Bolton 2-1 after a 1-0 win in their home leg. Liam Kitching scored after 24 minutes that day and now heads into this game with a great confidence of getting another goal.
This was, however, the first win for the Tykes in four games after losing to Ipswich Town, drawing with MK Dons and losing to Peterborough in the final few games of the League One season.
Michael Smith 2+ shots on target in 90 mins (was 6/4) is now at 3/1 - Smith had 2 shots on target for Sheff Wednesday in their second leg turnaround against Peterborough last week, as well as another in extra time.
2+ shots on target each team in each half in 90 minutes is also at 8/1 while Devante Cole and Michael Smith both to score in 90 minutes is at 11/1 - Cole (16) and Smith (20) are each teams respective top goal scorer this season with Smith scoring five across his last four matches.
Liam Kitching to score a header in 90 minutes is at 28/1 after he headered the winning goal in to send Barnsley to the final as well as scoring when these two sides last met
