Blackpool vs Stevenage Prediction, Tips & Stats

Blackpool will open the doors of Bloomfield Road once more when they meet with Stevenage this weekend back in League One after some midweek action with the away side aiming to keep up their bid for the league title.

It's been a sensational start to the season for Stevenage in what is their first season back in League one in four years. The club come into this one in fourth place and with just three losses on the board - only the top two, Oxford United and Portsmouth have fewer wins on their record than them.

Stevenage were defeated by Wycombe Wanderers 1-0 in their last outing from a Football League Trophy game. However, they managed to beat Wigan Athletic in a 1-0 home win with Aaron Pressley scoring a penalty in the first nine minutes of the game before Alex MacDonald was sent off.

A 3-1 loss to Bolton Wanderers came in before that as they were also defeated by Oxford United 3-1 before that on home soil. Despite losing against two contenders for promotion, Stevenage are still well in with a shout of a spot in the top six if form can continue. In fact, the club eased to 3-0 win over Cheltenham Town before this run, as Jordan Roberts scored before a brace from Elliot List in the second half.

As for Blackpool, they head into this game down in 10th place and with a 5-2 win over Liverpool U21s to boast of. Kylian Kouassi scored a hat-trick in the second half that day after coming off the bench. They are, however, winless in their past two league games with Derby County defeating them 3-1 before a 2-2 draw with Charlton Athletic.

            Stevenage team news

There were many changes to the Stevenage side for the midweek game against Wycombe, and we expect some more in this one. Nicky Freeman moved to right-back in that game and he should come back into the attack alongside MacDonald, Thompson and White. List and Hemmings both came off in that game, but they will be fit to play here. Jake Forster-Caskey missed out in the last game alongside Jordan Roberts, and these two are likely to come into the side here. Jamie Reid and Louis Thompson are expected to be fit to play here too. Neal is, however, out injured for this one, but Piergianni is set to be fit despite missing the last game.

            Blackpool team news

Blackpool's win over Liverpool's U21s saw them score the most goals they've ever scored in the a game this season, as Kylian Kouassi netted a hatr-trick while Andy Lyons and Albie Morgan scored a goal each too - these three should all start once more. Okaley-Boothe started and was booked in that game but is going to be fit to start here alongside Owen Dale. Dembele is likley to miss out due to injury, but Tharme, Ekpiteta and Squires are set to start in defence. Luke Mariette and Mackenzie Chapman are set to miss out here through injury, but Oliver Casey and Thompson have returned to the side here.
