Bolton Wanderers and Exeter City will feature this weekend in League One this weekend after victories in the Football League Trophy with both sides sitting in opposite sides of the table heading into this one.
Exeter are sitting down in 20th in what has been a terrible return to League One for them, but they did manage to beat the high-scoring Swindon Town at the Country Ground with a clean sheet and a goal from Yanic Wildschut. Bolton also defeated the table-topping Stockport County at Edgeley Park with two first half goals from Jon Daoi Boovarsson in the Football League Trophy.
In contrast to Exeter's woeful form, Bolton are sitting up in third with just three losses on the board and 11 wins. Better yet, only Swindon, Oxford United and Peterborough United have netted more than their 30 this season. Bolton are also on a five-game winning run in League One, and alongside wins over Stockport and Solihull Moors in cup competitions, they are now on a seven-game unbeaten run.
The Greater Manchester side have defeated Northampton Town, Wycombe Wanderers, Charlton Athletic, Shrewsbury Town and Blackpool within this period, winning three of those games away from home.
Exeter have lost nine games now and are above the bottom three by only three points after scoring jsut 12 goals, letting in 22 and winning only five. In the last outing in the league, Fleetwood Town would beat Exeter 3-0, as they were also knocked out of the FA Cup by Wigan Athletic and Middlesbrough, both at home.
