Lincoln City vs Bristol Rovers Prediction, Tips & Stats

Lincoln City could leapfrog Bristol Rovers in the League One table this weekend as the two sides meet at the LNER stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts currently find themselves in 16th place in the table, on 34 points, having recorded seven wins, thirteen draws and seven defeats from their twenty seven league games so far this campaign.

The Imps have been making steady progress in the league and have only lost one of their last five league games. Last time out, Lincoln recorded an impressive victory over Accrington as Lincoln cruised to a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Ben House, Sean Roughan and Teddy Bishop.

A win this weekend would give Lincoln back-to-back wins for the first time since the middle of September, where a victory over Derby was followed by a demolition of Bristol Rovers.

Three defeats on the bounce for Bristol Rovers has diminished any small hope that they may have had of making a late push for a playoff place. The Pirates now find themselves in 13th place in the league, having recorded ten victories, seven draws and twelve defeats in the league so far this campaign.

Joey Barton’s side have recorded three consecutive defeats, which have all come at the hands of teams who are below them in the league table. A 2-0 defeat to Accrington Stanley was followed by a humiliating 5-1 defeat against Morecambe, who are currently in 21st place in the league.

Last time out, Bristol’s dreadful form continued as they were defeated 2-0 by MK Dons. On-loan Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah had a home debut to forget as he gave away a penalty after just three minutes, which was converted by Mo Eisa.

MK Dons substitute Max Dean wrapped up victory in the first minute of stoppage time. The past three games will have been particularly concerning to the Bristol Rovers faithful, which has seen the Pirates lose 9-1 on aggregate against three teams who are all relegation threatened.

Lincoln have won each of their last two league games against Bristol Rovers, only once in the Football League have they had a longer winning run against them between 1981 and 1983.

When these sides met earlier on in the campaign, Lincoln came out on top of a frenzied nine-goal thriller. Jack Diamond struck a sparkling hat-trick as the Imps cruised to a 6-3 victory. The on-loan Sunderland winger ran rings round Rovers at the Memorial Ground where the frenzy of goals left Barton’s side in the League One relegation zone.

Unsurprisingly, given the respective form of these sides, Lincoln are home favourites heading into this weekend's clash and are currently priced @ 6/5 to take all three points, whilst an away win for Bristol is priced @ 21/10.

We are backing Ben House to score and win because it is hard to look past the Pirates woeful form in recent weeks. House looks like a possible candidate to score as he is Lincoln's top scorer so far this campaign and will be high on confidence after scoring last time out.

            Lincoln Team News

Lincoln have not reported any new injury concerns ahead of this weekend's game. Mark Kennedy is unlikely to ring the changes to the side that recorded a 3-0 victory last time out.

            Bristol rivers Team News

Bristol Rovers midfielder Jordan Rossiter is unlikely to feature this weekend as he suffered a setback in his recovery from a knee injury, while Lewis Gibson remains sidelined with a thigh problem.
