Oxford United head into their clash with Carlisle United off the back of two defeats in a row with the Blues also having a winless start back in League One after a draw on matchday one.
Both these sides suffered losses in the midweek EFL Cup first round encounters. Carlisle would fall to a defeat at the hands of Harrogate Town in their clash back on Tuesday, as they also managed to draw 1-1 in their opening game at Brunton Park back in the third tier.
Owen Moxon scored a goal that day for the Blues, as they had six shots on target at home from 15 efforts and also saw 41% of the ball on home soil.
The club will be aiming to use their motivation from last season which saw them finish fifth in League Two with 20 wins secured from 46 outings. They also lost just 10 games and managed to draw 16 other matches - no side in the top 12 managed to draw more while only those in the top three lost fewer games.
Oxford lost to Cambridge United on their opening game in League One after two goals in the first half saw them lose all three points. Things were made worse when the club lost to Championship side Bristol City in a 5-1 mauling at Ashton Gate, although Billy Bodin did equalise at one point for the club.
