Oxford United vs Shrewsbury Prediction, Tips & Stats

Oxford United are back at the Kassam Stadium after a tough loss to take against Burton Albion with Shrewsbury Town heading down south off the back of a stunning win against Forest Green Rovers that took the club into ninth.

It's been a wild season for Shrewsbury, as they have managed to fight down in the bottom eight, move towards the top half of the table and now sit inside the top 10 for the first time this campaign. In fact, their win over Forest Green all but sums up their form this season. The club were 1-0 down for much of the game against Forest Green, as Rekeil Pyke and Ryan Bowman scored in the 94th and 98th minute of the game, respectively, to steal all three points.

Salop are now level on points with sides like Peterborough and Wycombe and come into this game with just two points to make up on Barnsley in sixth. However, they do have to deal with the fact that they've played more games than most League One so far.

Oxford lost again over the past weekend to make it two games in a row with a loss, not long after beating Ipswich Town and Fleetwood Town in two excellent performances. They remain in 14th, however, and with a solid gap on the relegation zone.

            Oxford United team news

Oxford head into this game off the back of another loss in League One and changes are now expected. Stuart Findlay could come into the back line after missing the last game, while Tyler Goodrham is also back and came off the bench against Burton and was booked. Yanic Wildschut and Gatlin O'Donkor are also back too. Boding and Taylor will remain up top, however, with Joseph likely continuing here as well. Brannagan, McGuane and Bate all will likely play in midfield as well, with Fleming, Brown, Moore and Long all set to remain in the defence. There are no suspensions to worry about either.

            Shrewsbury team news

Shrewsbury's stunning win over Forest Green likely means the same team here, as Pennington, Dunkley and Flanagan all start in a back three. The latter was taken off with a booking in the last game, but he will be fit to start here. Killian Phillips was booked in the last outing too when he came onto the pitch and he could start here. Ryan Bowman came on to get the winner in the 98th minute of the game and could now feature as well. Moore, Luke Leahy, Winchester and Shipley should all stay in midfield, as Bayliss and Saydee remain up top. Rekeil Pyke also came off the bench to score in the last game, as Elliott Bennett and Tom Bloxham likely get minutes too.
