Plymouth Argyle are within touching distance of winning the League One title in the final two games of the season with the Pilgrims set to welcome a Burton Albion side to Home Park who are safe from the drop.
The league leaders can secure the title this weekend if results go their way. They will need to win and hope Ipswich Town are beaten by Exeter City, which seems unlikely given how Exeter have nothing to play for. At the same time, all three points for Plymouth should be in the bag with them 4/9 to win this game. Also, Burton have nothing to play for with them safe from relegation, so it could be the perfect time for the Pilgrims to play them.
Argyle defeated Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night with Niall Ennis and Macaulay Gillesphey scoring within four minutes of each other early in the second half. As Ipswich eased to a 3-0 win over Barnsley at the same time, there is still just a point within it, but as long as they can match or better the results of the Tractor Boys and Sheffield Wednesday, they will be champions, as Wednesday are still five points behind with six left on the table.
It was the 29th win of the season for Plymouth on Tuesday, but they have still conceded the most goals for those inside the top four with 46 let in, as they come into this outing with 78 scored following their three-game winning run since losing to Lincoln City against the odds at home.
They've gone on to beat Exeter City and Shrewsbury Town away from home while beating Cambridge United last weekend and Bristol on Tuesday.
Burton secured a narrow 1-0 win over Lincoln in midweek, as Gassan Ahadme scored late on in the game away from home. This was also their first win since beating Sheffield Wednesday two games ago, as they went on to draw with Bolton Wanderers before a loss to Derby County last weekend.
The Brewers have now secured 52 points in the league from their 14 wins and they now sit above the bottom four by 11 points and are mathematically safe from relegation. What's more, Burton have an extra game to play on most sides around them, meaning a finish in the top 12 this season is more than plausible.
They are, however, expected to lose to a title-chasing Plymouth here.
