Portsmouth are looking to keep their automatic promotion rate on track as they face Port Vale in League One this weekend.
Port Vale currently sit 18th in League One with eight wins, six draws and eleven losses from twenty-five games this season.
Port Vale are having a tough time in League One and find themselves nervously close to the relegation zone as they sit just four points above the drop zone.
Their form is pretty poor as they come into this one having won just one of their last five games in the league, the most recent of which was a 3-3 draw against Middlesbrough.
In fairness to the Vale, they've had their last two games either postponed or suspended so they've played two games fewer than most sides around them so they'll hope they get the chance to pull further away from the drop zone in the next couple of months.
Even though their form is poor they've been pretty respectable in front of their own fans as they come into this one having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five league games on home soil.
Despite the difficulty of this fixture, Portsmouth have shown vulnerability against lesser in this league of late so it's not out of the realms of possibility that the Vaale spring a surprise here.
It won't come easily, but a point would be a fine result for them.
Portsmouth currently sit top of League One with sixteen wins, eight draws and four losses from twenty-eight games this season.
Pompey, all in all, have been very good this season as they find themselves top of the league table pas the halfway point.
They started last season excellently too but an abrupt collapse led to them finishing well outside the playoff places, and fans' PTSD from that campaign may have been starting to creep in recent weeks as their form has wavered fairly notably since days before Christmas.
They're coming into this game having won just two of their last eight games, the most recent of which was a 1-0 win away at Fleetwood Town courtesy of a goal from Abu Kamara.
The win was sorely needed following two successive defeats in the league and they'll be hoping that will put them on track heading into this game.
That win was their first win on the road in four games so they've not been particularly strong on the road, so there's probably some apprehension around this game.
Portsmouth are unbeaten in their last three games against Port Vale, having already beaten them 2-0 this season, so they should come out on top here.
For our Port Vale vs. Portsmouth prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.
