Port Vale vs. Stevenage Prediction, Tips & Stats

Port Vale continue their desperate search for a much-needed win as they take on Stevenage in League One this weekend.

Port Vale currently sit 21st in the EFL Championship with eight wins, six draws and thirteen losses from twenty-eight games this season.

The Vale are having a tough campaign in England's third tier and are looking like serious relegation contenders.

Their form is poor, as they come into this game winless in their last five games (W0 D1 L4) having also won just one of their last five games.

Their most recent game saw them fall to a 0-1 loss to Leyton Orient, a defeat that marked their third on the spin.

On their own patch things haven't been much better either, with the Vale having won only two of their last twelve games on home soil in all competitions, with six of those ending in defeat.

They can at least take confidence from the fact they've played Stevenage three times this season and all three meetings have ended in a draw, so head-to-head they match up well with their opponents so despite their awful form they will feel they're capable of snatching a point here.

Stevenage currently sit 6th in League One with fifteen wins, seven draws and seven losses from twenty-nine games this season.

Newly promoted Stevenage have had a hugely successful season at this point, with almost nobody having tipped them to be serious playoff contenders coming into the campaign.

Their form is decent, with the Boro having won three of their last four games, the latest of which was a 0-1 defeat to Reading.

The loss to Reading was quite a deflating one for Steve Evans' side, with a game at home to a relegation contender a game that a promotion contender can ill afford to lose.

They're now coming into this game drastically needing to make amends for that loss as they look to keep pace with the rest of the promotion contenders.

Their form away from home has been solid having won three and lost two of their last five league games on the road, having also won their last two away games on the bounce.

Stevenage have certainly slowed down following their electric start to the league campaign but there's still plenty to play for this season, with a playoff spot well in reach.

Consecutive losses, or even successive games with points lost, against sides in and around the relegation zone is not something Stevenage can allow if they want to maintain their promotion push so three points here is non-negotiable.

For our Port Vale vs. Stevenage prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.

          Port Vale Team News

Dan Gore's Port Vale career hasn't got off to the best start as he joins Ben Garrity, Uche Ikpeazu and Mitch Clark on the injury list.

James Plant, though, could come back into the starting lineup here while Conor Grant will be hoping for a place in the starting lineup.

          Stevenage Team News

Nesta Guinness-Walker was unable to face Reading last weekend given he's currently on loan from the club so he'll return to the matchday squad here.

Manchester City loanee Finley Burns may come into the engine room from the start here as Steve Evans looks to shake things up in light of a defeat last week.
