Portsmouth vs. Lincoln City Prediction, Tips & Stats

A surging Portsmouth side are looking to continue their impressive run as they face Lincoln City in League One this weekend.

Portsmouth currently sit top of League One with four wins and four draws from their first eight games of the season.

After a fairly underwhelming campaign last time out that saw them miss out on the play-offs entirely despite entering the season as one of the promotion favourites, Portsmouth have started this season excellently as they find themselves as the only unbeaten team left in the league.

They enter this game amidst a strong run of form having won two of their last three games in the league.

Their most recent game saw them claim a huge three points in a 3-2 win away at Barnsley in what looked like a tricky game heading into it.

Goals from Colby Bishop, Paddy Lane and Connor Ogilvie saw them 3-0 up inside 16 minutes and despite Barnsley's best efforts Pompey held on for a huge three points.

The encouraging thing for Portsmouth is they've now beaten three sides currently inside the top eight of the division, including Exeter City in 2nd, so the likelihood is that their good run is more than just an impressive patch of form.

It's worth saying that they started last season in an equally impressive manner and abruptly collapsed in form without ever fully recovering, so fans must take these wins in their stride.

Still, though, things are looking good for the South Coast side and they'll fancy themselves to win here.

Lincoln City currently sit 10th in League One with three wins, three draws and one loss from their first seven games of the season.

Lincoln have started the season in solid fashion and their fans will be optimistic over what they can achieve this time around.

They're coming into this game in good form having won two and drawn three of their last five games, the most recent of which was a 1-1 draw at home to Carlisle United.

Lincoln wee a strong side last season that shot themselves in the foot by drawing game at an excessive rate, and the early evidence this season shows that problem could continue to plague them this time around.

They still look very difficult to beat, but the question of whether or not they can swing tight games in their favour will ultimately decide whether or not they can contest for a play-off spot.

They've got a tough game ahead of them here and will do well to come away with a result.

For our Portsmouth vs, Lincoln prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the home side.
