Portsmouth and Sheffield Wednesday will meet at Fratton Park this weekend with nine points separating the two sides ahead of this game where Pompey are still fighting to get closer to the playoffs.
The home side continue to sit in 10th for another week with them now outside of the top eight for the 10th week running after a very positive start saw the club fight for a spot inside the top four. Now, however, they've played the majority of their games in hand and still sit behind Derby County in sixth by 10 points with just one game extra to play.
This has seen Pompey win 17 times and draw ninth, with a poor record of 40 goals let in and 46 scored of their own. The south coast club lost to Barnsley 1-0 in midweek, but this did end a run of five games without a loss that saw them win four of them. Portsmouth went on to beat Burton Albion, Cheltenham, Bolton Wanderers and Cambridge United, as only Lincoln City took a point off them in that time.
Sheffield Wednesday are priced at 1/1 to win this one and it is the highest odds they've been in a number of weeks as a result, but the form of Portsmouth has been very topsy-turvy and we expect them to struggle here.
Sheffield Wednesday do head into this one in sensational form once more The club have won their past four games in a row and extended their incredible unbeaten run in League One since October to 17 games since a loss to Plymouth Argyle.
Better yet, they've even gone on to beat Plymouth in the return fixture at Hillsborough, while also drawing with Ipswich Town 2-2 in a game shortly after. Recently. the Owls have defeated MK Dons 5-2 and Morecambe 3-0 before beating Peterborough United 1-0 and Charlton Athletic 1-0. On the other hand, with Plymouth's form barely dropping at the same time, Wednesday are only above the club on goals difference with their defence being the best in the league where they've let in only 22 goals.
Wednesday do, however, have two games in hand to play.
