Reading are hoping to continue to edge their way towards safety as they face Barnsley in League One this weekend.
Reading currently sit 23rd in League One with five wins, two draws and eleven losses from eighteen games this season.
The Royals are having a worrying season on the whole as they currently face the very real prospect of successive relegations having dropped down from the EFL Championship last season.
They're heading into this game in solid form, however, having won both of their last two league games, the most recent of which was a 5-1 thumping of Carlisle United.
Such a convincing win over a fellow relegation contender was exactly what Reading needed and they'll hope that it injects them with the level of confidence needed to tackle a relegation battle.
Reading did, though, follow that game up with a hugely disappointing 2-1 defeat at non-league Eastleigh in the FA Cup last weekend, something they'll hope was just a blip given that competition is not their priority.
The Royals are unbeaten at home in their last five games in all competitions, having won four of them, so they'll be hopeful of getting back to winning ways here.
Barnsley currently sit 7th in the EFL Championship with nine wins, four draws and five losses from eighteen games.
The Tykes are having a disappointing season on the whole having failed to kick on from last season's playoff final appearance, as many anticipated they would.
They're entering this game amidst a fairly average run of league form having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five games.
Their last league game saw them beat Wycombe Wanderers 1-0 thanks to a goal by Sam Cosgrove in the 91st minute.
In the week Barnsley suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Blackpool in the EFL Trophy in a game with debatable significance.
Away from home Barnsley have struggled in recent weeks having won only one of their last five games on the road so they could be in for a tricky fixture here.
League table positions suggest this will be a simple one for Barnsley but we could see a shock here with Reading ready to build on two good league wins and the Tykes vulnerable away from home.
For our Reading vs. Barnsley prediction, we're going for a 1-1 draw.
