Shrewsbury Town will welcome Port Vale to Croud Meadow this Saturday with both sides struggling in the first quarter of games in League One this season as 16th takes on 17th.
Both sides have struggled once again in the early doors of this League One campaign, as Shrewsbury were battered by Blackpool 4-0 last weekend with Salop having only two shots on target in the trip to Bloomfield Road. This did, however, come after a two-game winning run for the club, as they defeated Shrewsbury in the Football League Trophy after more goals from Daniel Udoh and Ryan Bowman, as Mal Benning also got in on the act.
Another impressive win came against Reading earlier in November, as Tom Bayliss scored to bring one back after going 2-0 down inside 15 minutes. Stunningly, Chey Dunkley and Jason Sraha scored in added time to take the game to a 3-2 win for Salop.
This does, however, leave the club down in 16th still and with just a six-point gap on Carlisle United in the relegation zone. On the other hand, given the nature of the playoffs, the club are sitting adrift of Barnsley in sixth by just seven points.
As for Port Vale, they are one spot below Shrewsbury down in 17th and have one less point but two games in hand to play over them. In fact, winning those two games could take the club into as high as 11th, depending on other results too. Vale have only lost seven games too, but with 13 goals scored, there are clear needs for improvement.
