League One leaders Portsmouth are looking to continue their excellent form as they face Shrewsbury Town this weekend.
Shrewsbury Town currently sit 11th in League One with eight wins, three draws and ten losses from twenty-one games this season.
The Shrews are having a predictably middling campaign in League One as they find themselves lingering in mid-table without really threatening to make a push for the play-off places.
They're coming into this game in decent form, though, having gone unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions, winning three of those.
Their most recent game saw them claim a 1-0 win away at Wycombe Wanderers thanks to a Taylor Perry goal in the first half.
The win represented a big three points for the Shrews who are now unbeaten in their last three league games, taking seven points from those fixtures, having lost only one of their last five in the league.
Their form at home is very strong in League One, too, with Shrewsbury having won four of their last five on home soil so they'll very much feel like they have the foundations of a side capable of mounting a playoff push.
They still have a fair way to go, though, given they're nine points outside of the top six having played at least one, and in some cases two, games more than some of the sides in the top six so they need to simply take things game by game at the minute.
Portsmouth currently sit top of League One with thirteen wins, six draws and one loss from twenty games so far this season.
It's been an excellent campaign thus far for a Pompey side that not too many expected the be leading the standings at this stage of the season back in July.
Many had them pinned as a playoff contender but few thought they'd be the juggernaut they're proving to be in this division as they enter this game having won all of their last three games in the league, the most recent of which was a huge 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers.
The win over Bolton cannot be understated given the Trotters are in 2nd place and by most accounts are their main automatic promotion rivals so it now gives them a big edge in the promotion race.
Pompey haven't conceded a single goal in their last three games and have scored seven goals in that period so they're really clicking at both ends.
This is a tough, tough game given how strong Shrewsbury are at home but considering they're fresh off a win against Bolton they'll fancy themselves to take three points here.
For our Shrewsbury vs. Portsmouth prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.
