Wigan Athletic are aiming to stay outside of the bottom three in their hosting of Cambridge United after a decent start to the season sees the Latics overturn their negative points balance set at the beginning of the campaign.
After relegation from the Championship last time out because of a points deduction tally, things were made worse by a further point deduction back in League One which meant the club started the season with minus points before a ball was kicked.
However, a decent turnaround in form now sees Wigan out of the bottom three and with two points on the board after winning three games and losing only two. They have, however, suffered these two losses in their past two games where Barnsley and Blackpool have managed to defeat them by scoring two goals in each game. Before this, the Latics registered a sensational 4-0 win over promotion hopefuls Bolton Wanderers in an all-Greater Manchester affair.
Cambridge head into this one after another impressive win that saw them beat Reading 1-0 to register their fourth win of the season to keep them in sixth and just two behind league leaders Stevenage.
The U's have only lost to Stevenage and Leyton Orient this season and are well on course for an early charge into the playoff spots in 2023/24.
