Wigan vs. Lincoln City Prediction, Tips & Stats

Wigan Athletic are looking to further their ascent up the League One table as they face Lincoln City this weekend.

Wigan Athletic currently sit 14th in League One with nine wins, three draws and seven losses from nineteen games.

The Latics entered this season with a heavy handicap of eight points due to off-the-pitch issues so they've had a lot of ground to make up, and without such a heavy deduction they'd be only three points shy of the top six.

Not bad, then, but it could still be better and they're hoping to keep progressing in a positive direction and they enter this game in decent form in the league having won two and drawn two of their last four games, the most recent of which was a comfortable 3-0 win over Fleetwood Town thanks to goals from Jordan Jones, Sean Clare and Tom Pearce.

Wigan followed up that win with successive victories against York City, 1-0, in the FA Cup and Stockport County, 2-0, in the EFL trophy.

Things are looking good for the Latics, then, and given they've won six of their last seven games on home soil they look in very good shape to take a big three points here.

Lincoln City currently sit 9th in League One with eight wins, six draws and six losses from twelve games this season.

The Impsa are having a decent campaign in League One and look an improved unit from last season's side that managed only a mid-table finish and are currently only three points outside of the playoff places.

They're coming into this game amidst a mixed run of form having won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five games, the most recent of which was an impressive 3-0 win over Cambridge United courtesy of goals from Daniel Mândroiu, Dylan Duffy and Jack Vale.

The win was a big one for Lincoln and means they've now taken seven points from their last three games in the league so they're in very good shape heading into this encounter.

They've also been very good away from home of late having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five games on the road, having won both of their last two, so they'll feel like they have a lot going for them here.

This one feels like a game very much in the balance and one that could go either way. Expect a tight contest with an equally tight result.

For our Wigan vs. Lincoln prediction, we're going for a 1-1 draw.

          Wigan Team News

Martial Godo and Tom Pearce will both be absent with injuries picked up in in the FA Cup.

Thelo Aasgaard, Charlie Wyke, James Balagizi, Jason Kerr, Matt Smith and Steven Sessegnon all make up what is a significant injury list for the Latics.

          Lincoln Team News

Ben House and Lewis Montsma will both miss out for Lincoln here.

Teddy Bishop, Sean Roughan and Lasse Sorensen are all also doubtful for Lincoln as they look likely to name the same starting XI that took to the field last weekend.
