Two sides having completely contrasting starts to life in League Two this season will meet at the Cherry Red Records Stadium where Wimbledon will look to cling to fifth this weekend as Stockport County look for a return to the win column.
Just like last season, County have had a terrible beginning in League Two. In the end, they did charge up the league and only failed in their pursuit of League One football because of a loss to Carlisle United on penalties in the playoff final. Last time out, the club took a 2-0 lead through Louie Barry and Antoni Sarcevic before Crawley Town turned things around to lead 3-2. Eventually, Isaac Olaofe's third goal of the season secured a point for County.
Such a result leaves the Hatters in 20th after six games as they have only managed to register one win so far that saw them defeat Barrow with another finish from Barry. He has been the standout player for County so far, scoring in the 3-2 loss to Mansfield too, as Stockport have also managed to lose to Walsall and Gillingham while drawing with Bradford City in League Two.
Sheffield Wednesday have also managed to boot them out of the EFL Cup at the first round stage with a penalty shootout win after a 1-1 draw at Hillsborough.
As for Wimbledon, it has been one of their best starts to the season in recent memory although they are winless inside 90 minutes in the past four games after a penalty shootout win over Stevenage in the Football League Trophy group stages.
Prior to this, the Dons drew with Newport County and also lost to Chelsea in the EFL Cup second round after leading 1-0 early on through James Tilley at Stamford Bridge.
Wimbledon's last win in 90 minutes came against Sutton United, as they drew to Forest Green soon after. Colchester United have also fallen to a defeat to the London side, while Wimbledon have also recorded draws over Wrexham and Grimsby Town in League Two.
