Barrow vs Crawley Prediction, Tips & Stats

The Furness Building Society Stadium is the venue for a vital game at both ends of the table as promotion-chasing Barrow are set to host relegation-threatened Crawley Town.

The Home side are currently occupying 9th position in the League Two table, having amassed 58 points from their 40 league games so far this campaign. Barrow are currently six points behind Mansfield who are currently occupying 7th place in the table, the final playoff spot.

Barrow come into this weekend on the back of an inconsistent run of form which has been symptomatic of their season so far. The Bluebirds were beaten by relegation-threatened Harrogate but managed to follow this up with back-to-back victories over Wimbledon and Gillingham.

Last time out, a lack of defensive discipline punished Barrow as they were thrashed 3-0 by Crewe who are currently seven places below the Bluebirds in the league. Dan Agyei converted two first-half penalties as Crewe took a two-goal advantage into the break. The Cumbrians' playoff push took a dent as they lost for only the second time in their last eight games, with Alex substitute Chris Long completing the scoring in the 89th minute.

Crawley find themselves well and truly in a relegation battle at the bottom of the Football League as they are currently occupying 22nd place in the league, being kept above the relegation zone thanks to goal difference alone.

Four teams are battling to avoid the drop, with Crawley, Hartlepool, Colchester, and Harrogate being separated by three points. It seems as though Rochdale are set to be relegated as they are currently at the foot of the table and six points off safety.

On Good Friday, Crawley managed to hold promotion-chasing Bradford to a draw in a game that was devoid of many good goal-scoring opportunities. Possession was fairly balanced throughout the game and neither side were able to break the deadlock.

These sides have met on five occasions in the Football League, with Crawley having won four and Barrow having won just one. This is often a tight affair, with all of the last four meetings being decided by a goal or less and all three of the last games being won 1-0 by Crawley.

It was Crawley who recorded a narrow victory when these sides met in the reverse fixture earlier on in the campaign. Ashley Nadesan finished off a free-flowing Crawley move after an excellent ball from Dom Telford. Barrow threw it all at the Reds in the second half, but some excellent defensive work ensured all three points went to Crawley.

Unsurprisingly, given these sides’ respective positions in the league, it is Barrow who are favoured at the bookies ahead of this weekend and are currently priced @ 23/20, whilst an away win for Crawley is priced @ 7/2.

We are backing Josh Gordon to score the first goal in the game because he has shown some impressive form so far this season, netting 12 times in 32 appearances so far this campaign. Gordon is set to lead Barrow’s attacking line once more here and we believe that he is a possessive candidate to score for Barrow.

Barrow Team News

Ged Garner will be pushing for a place in the starting XI after he came on as a substitute during Barrows's defeat to Crewe. The forward, who signed for the Bluebirds from Fleetwood Town in January in a club-record deal, was not included in the Barrow matchday squad that took on Gillingham last weekend.

Crawley Team News

Crawley will be without Jordan Mutch and Ludwig Francillette who both suffered season-ending hamstring injuries during Crawley's victory over Wimbledon. Elsewhere, Dom Telford and Ashley Nadesan are likely to lead the attacking line once more for Crawley.
