Crewe vs Grimsby Prediction, Tips & Stats

16th will meet with 17th in League Two this weekend with Crewe Alexandra set to welcome Grimsby Town to the Mornflake Stadium off the back of a midweek draw for Crewe and a draw for Grimsby in the FA Cup last weekend.

It's been a tough run for Grimsby in the past few months, but they have still managed to beat Stockport County on New Year's Day in a 1-0 win at Blundell Park. The club then went on to beat League One's Burton Albion in the next game, but they were hammered 5-0 by Swindon Town just two weeks on from beating Stockport.

A two-week break would come for Grimsby soon after until Paul Hurst's men drew with Luton Town in the FA Cup fourth round last time out. Gavan Holhan gave his side the lead before Hurst's side fell behind. Harry Clifton soon equalised after just a minute of going behind, however.

Grimsby fans won't be too concerned about relegation these days with the gap now nine points above Gillingham in 23rd and with two games in hand to play on them. The club could see a gap of 15 in the next few weeks if they win their games in hand.

As for Crewe, Connor O'Riordan scored from the back in a 1-1 draw with Stockport last time out. It has moved Lee Bell's side up into 16th now and like Grimsby, the fears of relegation have eased tremendously in the past few months

              Grimsby team news

Grimsby will still be without Danny Amos after his straight red card against Swindon. Anthony Driscoll-Glennon will simply come back into the side here alongside Maher and potentially Shaun Person after his return to full fitness. Etefe should remain at the back, as Holohan and Clifton remain in the midfield after a booking each last time out. O'Neill will line up alongside McAtee in the forward lines here, as Khan faces a late fitness test. Green should also come in to the side once more, but Alex Hunt and Danilo Orsi could get more minutes. Bryn Morris is also back to full fitness

              Crewe team news

A 1-1 draw for Crewe against Stockport saw a few changes, so we expect there to be some more in this game. Luke Offord should come into the side with Charlie Colkett. Lachlan Brook is also back to full fitness and Tariq Uwakwe could be handed a rare start here. David Amoo is also set to play here after coming off the bench in the draw againt Stockport. Richards will remain in goal, as McDonald, Mellor, Adebisi and O'Riordan all stay in defence. Sambou and Elliot Nevitt should play here. Griffiths, Thomas and Agyei likely play here too.
