Doncaster Rovers will look to throw Hartlepool United deeper into trouble this Saturday with Rovers aiming to get themselves back into the top half of the table after a tough run of form in 2023 now sees them down in 15th.
Doncaster have only played three games in 2023 because of their absence from the cup competition.s This has seen the club defeat Carlisle United 2-1 at home before a 1-0 loss on the road to Leyton Orient. Mansfield Town then beat them 4-1 in the last outing, as Kyle Hurst scored for Rovers.
It now puts them in the bottom half with 37 points from 26 games. Worse yet, they don't have any games in hand on those above them and are already behind Sutton United in 12th by two points. Doncaster have also won as many as they have lost (11) in League Two.
The biggest concern for Danny Schofield's side is their defensive record. His men have let in 39 goals so far this season, and only three clubs outside of the bottom three have let in more than them.
As for Hartlepool, it's been a troublesome period again for them. The Monkey Hangers did manage to beat Rochdale two weeks back to launch them into last place and put Hartlepool just above the relegation zone. Keith Curle's men also lost to Gillingham three weeks ago in a bottom-three battle. Further losses to Colchester United last weekend and Carlisle keep them well in with a chance of getting relegated.
