Doncaster Rovers vs. Newport County Prediction, Tips & Stats

Doncaster Rovers take on Newport County in League Two this weekend in what is effectively a dead rubber.

Doncaster Rovers currently sit 14th in League Two with fifteen wins, seven draws and twenty-one losses from forty-three games this season.

It's been an entirely forgettable season for Doncaster this time around, with Rovers spending almost the whole season floating in mid-table without ever truly threatening to be anything more.

Their fans are likely looking forward to the season's conclusion, really, as they enter this game in abysmal form having failed to win any of their last eight matches.

Their most recent outing saw them fall to a 1-0 defeat away at Stevenage, a result that now means they've lost four of their last five games.

Their form at home hasn't been much better of late either, with Doncaster winning just one of their last six matches on home soil while losing each of the other five.

In all honesty, the focus of many of Doncaster's players may already be directed towards their offseason holiday as any faint hopes they had of making the play-offs evaporated long ago. Their final three games could be painful to watch given the level they're currently performing at and it would be unwise to back them with any confidence.

Newport County currently sit 18th in League Two with twelve wins, fourteen draws and sixteen losses from forty-two games this season.

It's been a dismal campaign for there Welsh club having spent the whole season in the bottom half, attempting to avoid being dragged into the relegation battle.

They've done that successfully, in fairness, having never truly been a relegation contender but they've still failed to give their fans anything to cheer about.

That much can be expected after losing the league's top goalscorer in Dominic Telford during the summer, as replacing twenty-five league goals is tough for any side.

They enter this game amidst a solid run of form having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five matches, the most recent of which was a 1-2 defeat at home to Mansfield Town.

Their record away from home hasn't been too bad in recent weeks either having won one, drawn two and lost one of their last four games on the road.

Newport were beaten 0-1 by Doncaster when the two sides met back in December but given the form of the two sides the Welsh club should fancy themselves to get one back here.

For our Doncaster vs. Newport prediction, we're going for a 1-1 draw.
