For our Gillingham vs. Carlisle prediction, we're going for a 1-0 win for the away side.
Carlisle United continue their play-off push as they face Gillingham in League Two this weekend.
Gillingham currently sit 19th in League Two with ten wins, eleven draws and sixteen losses from nineteen games this season.
The Gills have had a fairly successful campaign this season in that a frankly shoddy start to the season that saw them perform utterly impotently in front of goal had them looking like relegation certainties before an abrupt improvement in their form has seen them climb towards safety with just nine games remaining.
They enter this game amidst a solid run of form having won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five matches, the most recent of which was a 2-1 win over Crewe Alexandra.
The win over Crewe was Gillingham's second win in their last three games and was a solid response to a 2-0 defeat to Walsall the game prior.
Gillingham are ten points clear of Hartlepool United in 23rd and should definitely survive in the football league from here. It has the potential to be a nervy finish if Hartlepool pick up form so they need another couple of wins to make sure. Unfortunately, three points are unlikely to come this weekend.
Carlisle United currently sit 3rd in League Two with eighteen wins, twelve draws and seven losses from thirty-seven games this season.
It's been an outstanding campaign for a Carlisle side that were tipped by almost nobody to contest for promotion this season, but as they find themselves in the automatic promotion spots with just nine games remaining their fans are dreaming.
They enter this game amidst a decent run of form having won three and drawn two of their last five matches, the most recent of which was a 0-0 draw with Bradford City.
The draw with Bradford was Carlisle's second 0-0 draw on the bounce but given they both came against fierce promotion rivals they weren't necessarily bad results.
Carlisle's form away from home has been decent of late having won three and drawn two of their last five games on the road.
Carlisle beat Gillingham when the two sides last met in the league back in August and while they'll likely provide another stern test they should expect themselves to take three points from this encounter.
