Gillingham vs. Notts County Prediction, Tips & StatsT

Two sides harbouring hopes of promotion meet in League Two this weekend as Gillingham face Notts County.

Gillingham currently sit 7th in League Two with seven wins, one draw and five losses from thirteen games this season.

The Gills have been up and down in terms of form this season but overall they've underwhelmed relative to expectations with many fancying them to go for the title this time around.

They're coming into this game amidst a poor run of form in the league having won just one of their last five league matches, drawing one and losing three of them.

Their most recent game saw them fall to a resounding 4-1 defeat away at Walsall in what was a damning performance when considering their status as promotion contenders.

Their form at home has been impeccable, though, as they come into this game unbeaten in their last five games on home soil, winning four of them.

Gillingham are a tough team to assess as they're clearly a team with immense quality but they're struggling to truly put it together.

They need a win here following last weekend's abysmal performance but they're facing one of the league's better sides so it won't come easily.

Notts County currently sit 2nd in League Two with seven wins, three draws and three losses from thirteen games so far this season.

The newly promoted side have, one the whole, been excellent in light of their play-off win in the National League last season and while many fancied them as automatic promotion contenders coming into the campaign they have faltered significantly in recent matches.

Their form is a slight concern coming into this game as they've won just one of their last four games in the league, the most recent of which was a 1-4 defeat to Mansfield Town last weekend.

The defeat at home to Mansfield was a damning one and it very much confirmed concerns that a decline was on the way following some questionable recent performances.

It's going to be tough for County to follow up that performance at such a tough ground this weekend but they need to try and channel their form from the early weeks as they seek to make immediate amends here.

For our Gillingham vs. Notts County prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the home side.

          Gillingham Team News

Changes are almost certain for Gillingham following a 4-1 battering at Walsall last weekend with Max Ehmer and Jayden Clarke two of the main candidates to come into the starting lineup.

Gillingham have no new injury concerns here but that won't save one or two from getting dropped.

          Notts County Team News

Like their opponents, Notts County were comprehensively beaten by four goals to one last weekend and will therefore likely make a few changes to their starting XI.

Expect Jim O'Brien to come into the starting lineup for this one.
