For our Grimsby vs. Hartlepool prediction, we're going for a 1-0 win for the away side.
Hartlepool United's quest to secure League Two survival continues on Friday as they face Grimsby Town.
Grimsby Town currently sit 15th in League Two with twelve wins, twelve draws and fourteen losses from thirty-eight games this season.
It's been a fairly forgettable campaign for The Mariners this time around having failed to make an impact on the League Two table, despite having a very commendable run in the FA Cup.
They enter this game amidst a poor run of form having failed to win any of their last five matches, drawing three and losing two of them.
Most recently Grimsby fell to a 3-2 defeat at play-off chasing Bradford City, a defeat that was made all the more painful by conceding the losing goal in 81st minute.
While unbeaten in their last five games on home soil, Grimsby's home form is made much less impressive by the fact they've also won only one game in that period.
Grimsby's season is all but over given they're both well clear of the relegation zone and well shy of the play-off spots. It could be that that is affecting their form as we approach the finish line, and if that's the case then it's a side that drastically needs wins on the board that stands to gain.
Hartlepool United currently sit 23rd in League Two with seven wins, fourteen draws and eighteen losses from thirty-nine games this season.
Hartlepool have had a dismal campaign in league Two having spent almost its entirety desperately trying to escape the relegation zone, and while they've hitherto been unsuccessful it now looks as though their fortunates may be turning.
They enter this game unbeaten in their last six matches and are coming off the back of a big win.
After drawing five games in a row, many of which against promotion contenders, Hartlepool beat Swindon Town 2-1 last weekend in dramatic fashion by scoring two late goals - one in the 88th minute and one in the 94th minute - to give them a sorely needed three points.
The Hartlepool dressing room will have been elated following that game and if they can carry that momentum through to this game they'll stand a very good chance of three points.
Their form away from home isn't too bad having won one, drawn three and lost one of their last five matches on the road.
With Grimsby having nothing to play for and Hartlepool's lives being on the line, it feels as though the conditions could be ripe for Hartlepool to snatch a big result.
