Grimsby vs. Walsall Prediction, Tips & Stats

For our Grimsby vs. Walsall prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the home side.

Two mid-table sides meet in League Two this weekend as Grimsby Town host Walsall on Saturday afternoon.

Grimsby Town currently sit 15th in League Two with twelve wins, ten draws and thirteen losses from thirty-five games this season.

It's been an up and down season for Grimsby this time out having failed to make much of a mark on the league table despite their heroic FA Cup run.

They do enter this game amidst a decent run of form, though, having won two and drawn two of their last four league matches.

Their form at home has not been all that encouraging, however, having won just one of their last five matches on home soil in the league, drawing three and losing one of their other four.

Grimsby's season is almost over in that they have very little to play four with relegation not a serious concern and promotion very likely out of reach. Whether or not that affects their results remains to be seen, but on paper this is a winnable game for them.

Walsall currently sit 13th in League Two with eleven wins, fifteen draws and ten losses from thirty-six games this season.

The Saddlers' form has been mixed this season but they will be slightly disappointed with their current league position given they've threaten on the odd occasion to make a run for the play-offs.

They enter this game amidst a poor run of form overall having won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five matches, the most recent of which was a 2-0 win over Gillingham.

Walsall will be hoping a first win in thirteen league matches propels them on towards a good run of results.

Their form away from home is a worry though, with The Saddlers drawing three and losing two of their last five games on the road.

Walsall were beaten 1-2 by Grimsby back in August and given their form on the road combined with Grimsby's decent home form they could be in for another loss here.
