Harrogate Town vs Grimsby Town Preview, Tips & Stats

Grimsby Town travel to Wetherby Road to take on Harrogate Town this Saturday. Harrogate Town are snapping at the heels of the Play-offs, whereas Grimsby need the three point haul to put some more distance between them and the relegation zone.

Harrogate Town currently sit ninth in League Two after 27 games. Harrogate have 12 wins, four draws and 11 losses, leaving them on 40 points, just three points behind Notts County in the final Play-off place.

In their last five games in all competitions, Harrogate Town have three wins, one draw and one loss.

Jack Nolan opened the scoring early in the second half for Accrington Stanley but their lead didn’t last for long with Jack Muldoon equalising within six minutes. In the third minute of extra time George Thomson popped up with a goal to grab the 2 - 1 win for Harrogate Town. However, the next time out was not as successful. Charlie Jolley and Tom Davies both scored in the second half to give Tranmere the 2 - 0 win, despite Harrogate having 60% of the possession.

Muldoon opened the scoring for Harrogate in the last minute of the first half to give Harrogate the 1 - 0 lead at halftime but Jordan Slew equalised early in the second half. Thomson regained the lead for Harrogate in the 83rd minute but Jacob Bedeau equalised in extra time to grab a 2 - 2 draw for Morecambe. A goal from Sam Folarin gave Harrogate the lead early on but Tommy Rowe equalised just two minutes later for Doncaster. James Daly and Abraham Odoh both scored in the second half to give Harrogate the 3 - 1 win.

The last time out for Harrogate was against Forest Green Rovers. Following the red card to Alex Rodriguez early in the second half, Muldoon and Odoh both scored to give Harrogate the 2 - 0 win over ten-man Forest Green.

Grimsby, on the other hand, currently sit 19th in League Two. In 27 games, Grimsby have six wins, ten draws and 11 losses which leaves them on 28 points just three points above Colchester in the relegation zone.

In their last five games in all competitions, Grimsby have one win, one draw and three losses.

Grimsby could only manage one shot on target, being Kieran Green’s extra time goal, a goal that couldn’t salvage any points as Matthew Colin Foulds and Odoh both scored to give Harrogate the 2 - 1 win. KD Davis and George Maris both scored in the first half in the 2 - 0 win for Mansfield Town.

Grimsby bounced back next time out against Salford City. Harry Clifton, Toby Mullarkey and Danny Rose all scored in the 3 - 0 win for Grimsby. Despite taking the lead through Rose against Walsall, a brace from Isaac Hutchinson and goals from Douglas James-Taylor, Jack Earing, Priestley Farquharson and Danny Johnson gave Walsall the 6 - 1 win.

The most recent outing for Grimsby was a ten goal thriller against Notts County. An early penalty from Rose, a brace from Abo Eisa and a goal from Clifton made it 4 - 4 going into the later stage of the game. David McGoldrick’s second goal in the 92nd minute looked to have sealed the win for Notts County but a 95th minute goal from Harry Wood grabbed a hard-fought 5 - 5 draw for Grimsby.

Harrogate Town and Grimsby have met six times in their histories, with the first meeting coming as recently as 2020. Harrogate have never lost against Grimsby, and have won on four occasions with the other two draws ending in a draw.
