Hartlepool vs. Swindon Prediction, Tips & Stats

For our Hartlepool vs. Swindon prediction, we're going for a 1-0 win for the home side.

Hartlepool United' desperate attempts to avoid dropping out of the English Football league continue this weekend as they face Swindon Town in League Two.

Hartlepool United currently sit 23rd in League Two with six wins, fourteen draws and eighteen losses from thirty-eight games this season.

It's been a miserable season for those in Durham with Hartlepool spending almost the entirety of the campaign in the relegation zone.

They do, though, enter this game amidst a peculiar run of form that offers cause for optimism having drawn their last five consecutive matches.

Their most recent game saw them draw 1-1 with league leaders Leyton Orient, a result that meant Hartlepool have now drawn with three promotion contenders on the trot.

This demonstration that they can compete with the league's best side's should not go unnoticed, and their fans will have to hope it means they can claim the necessary points to secure survival down this final stretch.

Hartlepool are five points shy of safety with just eight games remaining so time his running out for them to put the run of wins together that they so desperately need. This is a much kinder fixture than their previous three, though, so three points could be on the cards.

Swindon Town currently sit 11th in League Two with thirteen wins, twelve draws and twelve losses from thirty-seven games this season.

One good run of form that took them into the top seven aside, Swindon have had a fairly unremarkable campaign as they now look all but set to sail to a forgettable mid-table finish.

They enter this game amidst a poor run of form having failed to win any of their last five matches, the most recent of which was a 0-1 loss at home to Stockport County.

Their form away from home is slightly more encouraging in fairness, with Swindon winning one and drawn three of their last four games on the road.

Swindon beat Hartlepool 2-1 when the two sides met back in October, but both sides are in very different shape here and Swindon could have their work cut out.

Given Swindon have nothing to play for this season, Hartlepool could use that to their advantage and it would not be unfair to suggest they'll be much more motivated for this game. Don't be surprised if we see an upset here.

          Hartlepool Team News

Joe Grey and Peter Hartley are both doubtful for Hartlepool here.

They're not entirely ruled out though, and their inclusion would mean John Askey can pick from a full squad.

Regardless, Askey will likely go with the same XI that started the draw with Leyton Orient last time out.

          Swindon Team News

Jacob Wakeling is unavailable through suspension while Reece Devine is out injured.

Luke Jephcott will likely deputise in Wakeling's absence.
