Grimsby travel to Meadow Lane to face Notts County this weekend for the second match week in League Two. The Magpies started their campaign away to Sutton United where they were systematically taken apart. Sutton were immediately on the front foot, with Joseph Mohamed Kizzi scored within the first two minutes. Patrick picked up another goal along with Harry Beautyman before Notts County could reply through David McGoldrick. However, Harry Smith scored for Sutton handing Notts County a 5 - 1 thrashing on their return.

Grimsby dominated the game against Wimbledon, completing almost double the amount of passes as the visitors but were just unable to find the back of the net.
Grimsby faced fellow League Two side Mansfield Town in the First Round of the League Cup. After a poor back pass and poor touch from Grimsby goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright, he brought down Mansfield’s Lucas Akins who converted the resulting penalty. Rhys Oates then doubled Mansfield’s lead to give them the 2 - 0 win that sealed their spot in the Second Round.
