It's an all-Greater Manchester affair in the League Two playoffs this weekend with Stockport County set to make the trip across to Salford City with both sides separated by three places in the final standings of the table.
It is County who finished above Salford after gameweek 46 with the club still eyeing up a spot in the automatic promotion position. However, they drew 1-1 with Hartlepool just as Northampton Town won their game which kept Stockport in fourth.
They did, however, concede the third-fewest goals across the season with 37 let in and 65 scored. They also lost just 11 times compared to Salford's 15, with County winning 22 games - only those in the top three netted more.
Stockport did hammer the League One winners Leyton Orient 3-0 just prior to the draw with Hartlepool and also defeated Rochdale 1-0 before that. In fact, it's only been five weeks since these two last met in League Two in a game that saw them draw 1-1 at Edgeley Park.
Salford were beaten by Gillingham at home in their final game of the League Two season, but fortunately for them, this still kept them in the playoff spots by goals difference. Stunningly, however, they finished above Mansfield Town by one goal in this regard, having scored 72 goals each with Salford letting in one less goal with 54. In fact, should Mansfield have scored one more goal in their win against Colchester United, things would have been very different.
