Edgeley Park is the venue for an exciting League Two clash on Saturday afternoon as the league leaders Stockport County are set to host Swindon Town, with the game set to kick off at 15:00.
The hosts are currently sitting in 1st position in the League Two table, having gained 62 points from their 33 league games so far this campaign.
The league leaders come into this game on the back of a bad run of form which has seen them go three games in a row without a win, whilst conceding seven goals. The hatters’ title charge was delt a blow as they were defeated 3-1 by Crewe and 4-0 by Tranmere in successive weeks.
Last time out, Stockport only managed to come away with one point as they tarvelled to Gillingham. Despite having more possession and shots than the hosts, Stockport were unable to break teh deadlock in the game as it finished goalless.
Swindon Town currently find themselves in 18th position in the league table, having picked up 39 points from their 33 league games this season. The Robins look condemned to another season in League Two as they are currently 16 points above the relegation zone and 9 points behind the playoff places.
In their last league outing, Swindon were narrowly defeated by promotion chasing MK Dons. Town suffered a disappointing 2-1 home defeat with two early goals for the Dons giving them victory at The County Ground. MK Dons' Stephen Wearne scored twice in the first 10 minutes to make it a difficult turnaround for Town as they were unable to fight back from an early two-goal deficit this afternoon.
The fixture of Stockport vs Swindon has a long and storied history, with the two sides having first met in 1958 in the League Division Three. In total, these two side have met on 38 occasions, with Swindon having a slight advantage in the head to head, having won 16 compared to Stockport’s 14.

It was Stockport who recorded a comfortable 4-2 victory when these sides met eachotehr earlier on in the season in the reverse fixture. Unsurprisingly, given the respective league position of these sides heading into this weekend, it is Stockport who are heavily favoured at the bookies and are currently priced @ 4/9, whilst an away win for Swindon is priced @ 21/4 and a draw is @ 7/2.
