Sutton United are back in action just a few days on from Football League Trophy action with the home side welcoming MK Dons to Gander Green Lane after a terrible start to life in the 2023/24 League One season.
Sutton are sitting dead bottom in League Two and head into this match with seven losses on the board already and just one victory. At the same time, no team in the Football League has managed to concede more goals than them with 20 going in from eight matches and just one win. Oddly enough, despite the terrible form, they have still managed to get 11 wins and head into this one with six goals scored in the past three games.
As has been the case all campaign long, however, the former National League side managed to lose all three of those, including a loss in midweek to Aston Villa U21s on penalties that saw Harry Beautyman get another goal for the season.
The London side have also lost 5-3 to Sutton United in this period with Craig Clay scoring in the first half before Ben Goodliffe did the same. However, Swindon were already 3-0 up prior to those goals going in. Harry Smith also bagged that day.
As for MK Dons, they head into this game having lost defeated Oxford United 1-0 with a finish from Jack Payne from the penalty spot sealing a group stage EFL Trophy win. The Dons did lose their last League Two outing, however, as Stockport County defeated them 2-1 at Stadium MK. The club have also managed to draw 1-1 with Notts County in September games and also lost to Crewe Alexandra 3-1. This means a run of three games without a victory in League Two.
Nevertheless, the club have managed to win four games in the league so far and also score 15 times. With 14 goals going in at the other end, Sutton will be confident in getting one themselves with them scoring the most goals inside the bottom 10, despite being last.
We think Sutton can get at least one goal in this one, as they have proven to be a decent goalscoring threat. On the other hand, MK Dons should get the job done.
