Auxerre and Clermont Foot will be in search of a strong end to the Ligue 1 season with the away side very unlikely to fight down at the bottom of the table in the final few games of the campaign over in France's top flight.
Auxerre have been fighting the drop for most of the season and although they are still only above the drop zone by one point, their superior form over the likes of Brest, Nantes and Strasbourg should give fans great hope of staying in the top flight this season.
Auxerre have moved to 14th in recent weeks and have won the most games for those still fighting down in the bottom six. On the other hand, they've scored the fewest goals for those outside of the relegation zone with 31, while their record of 16 games lost is the worst in Ligue 1 too.
The club were on a healthy unbeaten run before their loss to Marseille last weekend, and this run of just one defeat in 10 games saw the club rocket from last place and out of the bottom three.
Only Strasbourg managed to defeat them in this time, while the club would go on to defeat the likes of Auxerre, Nantes and Troyes, while even beating Lorient and Lyon back in February. It makes them the most in-form side in the bottom six.
As for Clermont, they have been incredible in the past two months and they would win every game in April and create a five-game winning run after victories over Ajaccio, Troyes, Angers, Nice and Reims.
The club now sit in eighth and are behind Lyon in seventh by four points. They still sit 10 behind the top five European spots, and with just 15 points left to play for, it's near impossible to see them fight for a spot in the Europa Conference League, despite their incredibly strong end to the season.
