We have a potentially dramatic game in Ligue 1 this weekend as Auxerre look to secure their place in Ligue 1 for next season as they face RC Lens.
Auxerre are currently 16th in Ligue 1 with eight wins, eleven draws and eighteen losses from thirty-seven games this season.
Auxerre are walking on a tight rope coming into this game as they sit just two points clear of the relegation zone with one game of the season remaining.
Their form doesn't inspire much confidence coming into this crucial encounter with the relegation-threatened side having failed to win any of their last five matches, the most recent of which was a 1-1 draw away at Toulouse.
Their record at home, however, has been much more encouraging of late with Auxerre having won two, drawn two and lost two of their last five games on home soil.
Auxerre are in a very tough position in that they're facing one of the league's most accomplished sides this season in a game they very well may need to win.
Due to their unfavourable goal difference a draw here would not be enough to keep them in Ligue 1 if 17th place Nantes beat bottom of the league Angers on the final day of the campaign.
The pressure is very much on, then, and they couldn't ask for a much tougher game.
Lens currently sit 2nd in Ligue 1 with twenty-four wins, nine draws and four losses from thirty-seven games this season.
Lens have had a frankly excellent campaign this season having already secured 2nd place and thus automatic qualification to the Champions League group stage.
They're coming into this game in fantastic form, too, having won their last five consecutive matches and nine of their last ten games.
Most recently, Lens cruised to a 3-0 with over Ajaccio.
Their form at home has also been very strong having won four of their last five games away from home, with the sole defeat coming at the hands of PSG.
Lens beat Auxerre 1-0 back in January and will want to complete the league double here to ensure their points total is as close to PSG's as possible.
Lens are locked into 2nd so they have nothing to play for, but given their form it feels unlikely they're about to take their foot off the gas.
For our Auxerre vs. Lens prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.
