Championship action resumes this midweek as Luton Town play hosts to one of the league's biggest strugglers in Rotherham United where the Hatters can all but confirm relegation for the travelling side with a win.
The Championship has had a slightly abrupt finale. The play-off places have been decided for some time, whilst Wycombe Wanderers have been relegated for weeks, just as Sheffield Wednesday remain safe for a couple of days at least. But also in the midst of this relegation battle is Rotherham, who have been staring in the face of League One all campaign and have been eyeing up Derby County for the past few months.
Derby needed just one point to guarantee Wednesday were relegated over the weekend, but with they 2-1 defeat to play-off hopefuls Swansea City, the Millers have another chance to get out of the drop zone in this vital clash.
As of now, before Derby clash in a monumental relegation fight with Wednesday, Rotherham play this game in hand, and a win would put them level with the Rams. The goal difference is six greater in the favour of Wayne Rooney's men, so it's fair to say that this is not in Rotherham's hands, and they either need a win for Wednesday on Saturday, or a dramatic scoreline on Tuesday.
As for Luton, they've been continuing their climb up the English ranks this past season, but have had to settle for a mid-table finish this campaign. This is a game in hand for Luton, which could see them draw level on points with Middlesborough, although, with the play-offs guaranteed already, the club's best hope at a finish is eighth, but this will require slip-ups from Queens Park Rangers, Cardiff City, Middlesborough and Millwall.
The Hatters are in great form, however. They are unbeaten in a month now, beating the likes of Premier League bound Watford, Bristol City and taking a point away from a trip to Reading also. With this in mind, plus Rotherham's six-game run without where they have lost five, it's tough to see how they get a result here.
We're tipping a low-scoring Luton win, just like has been the case for much of their season.
