Italy vs Germany Prediction

Italy versus Germany promises to be an interesting game in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League.

Germany are unbeaten in the competition itself as they have managed four wins and two draws, seeing them finish as winners of League A Group 3, while Italy finished as runners-up to France in League A Group 2 following their 3-1 loss to Les Bleus on matchday six.

Julian Nagelsmann’s men enter this game as favourites, especially when considering the fact that they average three goals per game in this season’s competition. The last competitive meeting between Germany and Italy resulted in a 5-2 win for Die Mannschaft back in June 2022 as Joshua Kimmich, İlkay Gündoğan, Thomas Müller and Timo Werner (2) all got on the scoresheet.

With the Both Teams to Score market landing in four of Italy’s last five matches, as well as in three of Germany’s most recent five games, we are predicting that the latter will run out as 3-1 victors.

Prediction: Italy 1-3 Germany

Italy vs Germany Prediction & Preview

Italy and Germany go head-to-head in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League at the San Siro.

Date: 20/03/2025

Location: San Siro

Time: 7:45pm

Luciano Spaletti’s side have certainly come a long way from their disastrous Euro 2024 campaign that saw them exit at the Round of 16 phase to Switzerland after accumulating just four points from Group B where they scraped a 2-1 win over Albania and a 1-1 draw with Croatia on either side of a 1-0 defeat to eventual European Championship winners, Spain.

Italy looked like a side that lacked identity in general at Euro 2024 and at times during their qualifying campaign, as they narrowly avoided a third-place finish to Ukraine via a 0-0 away draw on matchday eighth, having finished on 14 points from eight matches.

However, the Azzurri have looked like a different side altogether in the UEFA Nations League, having notably, outclassed France on matchday one, earning a 3-1 away win thanks to goals from Federico Dimarco, Davide Frattesi and Giacomo Raspadori after Bradley Barcola had given Les Bleus the lead after just one minute. Following that game, they would earn ten more points from their next five matches, a marked improvement from last summer’s European Championship horror show.

On the other hand, Germany have looked as good as ever under Julian Nagelsmann. The ex-Bayern Munich coach took charge of Die Mannschaft for their home European Championship, leading them to the quarter-finals, where they suffered a late extra time loss to Spain in what was an incredibly close contest.

Despite hoping for European Championship glory, this was a massive improvement for Germany, who had been dumped out of the 2022 World Cup Group Stages, having finished third in Group E behind Japan and Spain.

In the Nations League, Die Mannschaft are the top scorers in League A having fired in 18 goals in six matches, seeing them comfortably top Group 3 ahead of the Netherlands, Hungary and Bosnia.
