Date: 23/03/2025
Location: Hampden Park
Time: 5pm
Scotland came under huge pressure in the first leg of this tie, as they took just eight shots to Greece’s 24 while having just 43% possession, however, Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay come up trumps with a 35th-minute goal to give Steve Clarke’s men a vital 1-0 victory.
The Tartan Army have bounced back well considering they had such a dismal Euro 2024 campaign that saw them exit the Group Stages with just one point after three matches.
The hosts earned a third-place finish in Group A1 in dramatic fashion, as they suffered three defeats from their first three Nations League matches, however, a run of seven points in three matches saw them avoid automatic relegation to League B, as they drew 0-0 with Portugal, before beating Croatia 1-0 and Poland 2-1 thanks to a dramatic 93rd-minute winner from Andrew Robertson.
On the other hand, Greece are looking to restore their reputation once again under the management of Ivan Jovanovic having missed out on Euro 2024 via the play-offs as they were beaten by Georgia on penalties after a 0-0 draw.
Greece came agonisingly close to winning Group B2, as they won five and lost one of their six matches, while scoring 11 times and conceding four. Three of those four goals that Greece conceded were costly ones, as they were beaten 3-0 by England, who topped the group as a result.
