Spain vs France Prediction

European and current UEFA Nations League Champions are slight favourites heading into this game against World Cup finalists France in the standout match of the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

La Roja will be looking to continue their excellent form, which has seen them go 18 games without a defeat in all competitions and also scoring first in their last seven matches. Interestingly, the last time these two teams met was during Spain’s excellent run to the final of the previous European Championships, where they were victors in a 2-1 victory.

France will obviously pose a significant challenge to Spain, given the options they possess in their squad and their current form. Les Bleus have been on an impressive run of form, which has seen them win five of their previous seven matches and have only lost once.

The recent meetings between the two sides, have not fared well for France defensively. The visitors have not kept a clean sheet in the last three meetings between the two sides. We believe goals will be on the offering here, with over 2.5 goals scored in the previous five matches involving La Roja.

That being said, Spain’s unbeaten run shows no signs of ending anytime soon, so we are going for a high-scoring victory for the European Champions.

Spain 3-2 France

Spain vs France Preview & Prediction

Spain and France meet on Thursday (05/06/2025), with both sides looking to eventually become the first two-time winners of the UEFA Nations League during the competition's short existence.

Date: 05/06/2026

Location: MHP Arena, Stuttgart.

Kick-Off: 8 pm

European and current Nations League Champions, Spain, have been on a monumental journey under manager Luis de la Fuente, with his Spain side now looking to replicate their success of 2023, where La Roja picked up their maiden Nations League triumph. Spain also has the distinction of winning the last two major European competitions under the UEFA banner, having beaten England in the UEFA European Championships last year. Since then, Spain have been going from strength to strength, with a blossoming crop of young players coming through the ranks such as Gavi, Pedri and Lamine Yamal al from Barcelona. Spain has a terrific choice of midfield options to impose themselves on France, with the aforementioned Gavi, Pedri and Champions League winner Fabian Ruiz to come into the team when needed. La Roja were dominant in their Nations League group, with five wins and one draw from their six group games.

Former World Champions, France, could be set to move into a new era of management, given the constant rumours of Didier Deschamps moving on and being replaced by former Real Madrid and France captain, Zinedine Zidane. Les Bleus were the victors of this competition in 2021, having conveniently beaten Spain in the final. Similarly to Spain, France's squad is also filled with excellent options in the final third of the pitch, with the trio of Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola full of confidence from their UEFA Champions League triumph with PSG.

France finished top of their Nations League group, which consisted of Italy and Belgium, winning four games and drawing once, while losing to Italy.

Team News

Spain Team News

Rodri was not called up to the squad, which is understandable given the midfielder only returned from injury in the last two matches of the season. Ferran Torres and Raul Asencio are both expected to miss out, while Pau Cubarsi could be thrown into the eleven given his impressive performances for Barcelona.

France Team News

France have a plethora of options in the attacking department with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and the PSG trio of Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Bracola fresh from their Champions League triumph. In the defence, William Saliba and Jules Kounde will be huge absentees for Didier Deschamps.

Form Guide

Spain:

La Roja will be looking to continue their excellent form, which has seen them go 18 games without a defeat in all competitions and also scoring first in their last seven matches. Spain's last two matches ended in a stalemate as they and the Netherlands played out a fantastic spectacle, which ended 5-5 on aggregate after two legs. Spain ended up progressing thanks to a penalty shootout victory, in which Noa Lang and Donyell Malen missed their decisive spot-kicks for the Dutch.

Prior to this game, Spain had won their previous five matches in the Nations League, with victories against Switzerland (3-2), Denmark (1-2), Serbia (3-0), Denmark (1-0) and Switzerland (1-4).

France:

Les Bleus have been on an impressive streak of form, which has seen them win five of their previous seven matches and have only lost once. France overcame a two-goal deficit from the first leg against Croatia last time out and, similarly to Spain, they also progressed via a penalty shootout. Martin Baturina, Franjo Ivanovic and Josip Stanisic missed the crucial spot-kicks for Croatia.

Prior to the games against Croatia, France had won four of their last five matches in this competition, with victories against Italy (1-3), Belgium (1-2), Israel (1-4) and Belgium (2-0 & 1-2)
