Bournemouth vs. Chelsea Prediction, Tips & Stats

Chelsea's dismal campaign continues this weekend as they head to the South Coast to face AFC Bournemouth.

Bournemouth currently sit 13th in the Premier League with eleven wins, six draws and seventeen losses from thirty-four games this season.

It's been an overwhelmingly successful campaign for The Cherries having as good as secured survival in the Premier League with plenty of time to spare as they head into their final four games of the season.

They enter this game in excellent form having won four of their last five matches in the league, the most recent of which was a thumping 4-1 win over Leeds United at the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth's successes this season are very much in defiance of most punters' projections coming into the campaign with the majority of commentators tipping The Cherries for an immediate relegation back to the Championship.

However, against the odds they've remained in the league with relative comfort and their exploits mean manager Gary O'Neil is now the subject of manager of the year shouts having taken over what seemed an impossible job with Bournemouth bottom of the league table with a goal difference of -16 just three games into the campaign.

The rest of the season will serve as a celebration for Cherries fans and their side can now play without any pressure on their shoulders having achieved what they set out to do. They're playing one of the country's biggest clubs here but given the on-pitch health of the two sides they should firmly expect themselves to win this one.

Chelsea currently sit 12th in the Premier League with ten wins, nine draws and fourteen losses from thirty-three games this season.

This Chelsea season has been one for the history books - but not in a good way.

The Blues have had a frankly woeful campaign as they find themselves in the bottom half of the table and level on points with this weekend's opponents, despite spending over £300m in January.

They're now on their third manager of the campaign but matters on the pitch have become progressively worse with each managerial change with the current version of Chelsea under Frank Lampard arguably serving as the worst iteration of the club this side of the century.

They enter this game in abysmal form having failed to win any of their last nine matches having lost their last six on the bounce.

Their most recent game saw them fall to a comfortable 3-1 defeat away at Arsenal in a game that was all but done by the 34th minute after finding themselves 3-0 down.

Despite the talent at their disposal there really are no signs that Chelsea are on the brink of improvement as their performances under Lampard continue to make a mockery of the loyalty of the fans.

The lack of fight in the squad is a little less surprising given the futures of many individuals featuring heavily in the starting lineups likely lie away from Stamford Bridge, with Lampard regularly handing starts to a number of senior players that look certain to leave the club this summer rather than awarding crucial developmental minutes to promising youngsters that should have big futures at the club in what are essentially dead rubber matches.

Whether or not this season will hit new lows for The Blues remains to be seen. It seems inconceivable that a 12th placed finish in the Premier League may not be the floor for this Chelsea side but given the way they're playing it's not all that difficult to envision a world where they fail to pick up another win this season.

For our Bournemouth vs. Chelsea prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the home side.

          Bournemouth Team News

Junior Stanislas, Marcus Tavernier and Ryan Fredericks are all out injured for The Cherries while Chris Mepham, Kieffer Moore and Hamad Traore are all doubtful.

O'Neil will hope that striker Dominic Solanke can build on his two goals in his last three games to end the season strongly.

          Chelsea Team News

Marc Cucurella, Reece James, Mason Mount and Armando Borja will all miss out for the away side while Kalidou Koulibaly is a doubt.

Kai Havertz delivered an impressive cameo off the bench against Arsenal and may well start here.
