Burnley are in desperate need of some points towards the bottom end of the Premier League table, as they take on an Everton who have lost consecutive league fixtures.
The form guide doesn't bode well for the Clarets, as despite their spirited display against AFC Bournemouth, the home side is now winless in their last eight Premier League matches. Burnley have lost seven of their previous eight league games, and, interestingly, the only three sides they have beaten this season have been newly promoted or 20th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers, for whom they were thankful when Lyle Foster scored late on. Burnley's defensive woes have been a seismic shift from last season, from posting the Championship's defensive record with 16 conceded to 34 in 17 Premier League games. Scott Parker's men have found themselves conceding at an alarming rate as well, with the Clarets conceding first in each of their last six.
As for Everton, the absence of Iliman Ndiaye is bound to take a huge hit on their creativity, with David Moyes opting for the more traditional wing play of Dwight McNeil against Arsenal. However, the likes of Jack Grealish can still provide against an expected lower block of Burnley, as the on-loan Manchester City loanee has provided six goal contributions for his side. The Toffees are coming into this game with two straight defeats; however, to provide context, they were against Chelsea and Arsenal. If you take a look at the bigger picture, the Toffees have won four of their last seven, which includes consecutive wins against Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth.
Games involving Everton have provided low-scoring affairs, with six of the last eight involving the visitors having less than 2.5 goals. Both sides have averaged just over a goal per game this season, and with Burnley it will be unlikely they will provide much threat should Everton take the lead.
Burnley 0-1 Everton.
