Liverpool are back at Anfield for their first home game of the 2023/24 season that sees Bournemouth head to Merseyside with both clubs heading into this match off the back of draws on the opening weekend.
Bournemouth would go 1-0 down at home to West Ham United on the first game of the season, as Jarrod Bowen scored a stunner. Dominic Solanke would bag an equaliser with just eight minutes left of normal time, as the Cherries conceded three shots on target and had five of their own. Andoni Iraola did still manage to guide his side to wins over the likes of Lorient and Southampton during preseason.
Iraola does have a tough set of games to open up his Premier League career, as this trip to Anfield is followed up by a home visit from Tottenham Hotspur, a trip to Brentford, a home clash with Chelsea and an away clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.
As for Liverpool, they played out a 1-1 thriller on the opening Sunday of the season at Stamford Bridge. Luis Diaz would score a fantastic goal that day after Mohamed Salah slotted in a magical pass. Salah himself failed to score for the sixth opening season in a row and marked his first-ever opening day failure to score. He did, however, have a goal brutally ruled out by VAR with their being just centimetres between him and being onside.
The Reds also saw six shots on target that day and although Chelsea matched them in the end, it was a good performance on the opening day for Jurgen Klopp's men and a solid point in the end.
