The international break couldn't have fallen at a more perfect time for Liverpool, as their 3-0 loss to Manchester City undid all the hard work of the two previous victories against Aston Villa and Real Madrid. This season, it's fair to suggest that the Champions have been well below par, as they currently sit eight points adrift of league leaders Arsenal and four points adrift of second-placed Manchester City.
The problems and issues faced by Liverpool stem from a supposed tactical change from last season's almost perfect set-up, which has now caused Liverpool's side to become more frantic and more open to counter-attacking opportunities, potentially beneficial for Nottingham Forest. Arne Slot's side has lost five of their previous six league games; however, to provide context, only one of those defeats came at Anfield, against Manchester United. Liverpool have won four of their five league games at Anfield; however, they will still be seen as defensively suspect, given they have conceded at least a goal per game at home this season.
Nottingham Forest have been relatively solid under the new management of Sean Dyche, as the visitors are unbeaten in their last three games in all competitions. Forest, like Liverpool, have their defensive problems, conceding first in eight of their previous 10 matches, a record that Arne Slot's men have unfortunately also recorded. Goals will then surely come in this game, as over 2.5 goals have been scored in six of the last eight matches involving Liverpool.
Liverpool are usually strong at home, and will have players back from injury, such as Alisson and Alexander Isak, so we are going with a 2-1 home win for the league champions.
Liverpool 2-1 Nottingham Forest
