A massive game takes place between Newcastle United and Chelsea this weekend in the Premier League where the Blues are aiming to build on a rise in form for what would be arguably their best result of the season.
Chelsea have had two commendable results in recent weeks, although both their games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City come with many questions. Firstly, against Spurs, Chelsea had to see the opposition get down to 10 men in order to win the game 4-1, as Nicolas Jackson scored a hat-trick following the second red card. In fact, the Blues were 1-0 down until Cristian Romero received his marching orders and the club probably would have lost should Spurs had stayed at 11 men.
They did also manage to get a point off Manchester City at Stamford Bridge just before the international break, but by letting in four goals in a 4-4 draw, questions have to be asked of Mauricio Pochettino's defence still, as Thiago Silva and Raheem Sterling scored first half goals before Jackson netted in the second 45. Cole Palmer was the hero of the day in the end with a penalty in the 95th minute to earn his side a point against his former club.
As for Newcastle, their form has also taken a beating in recent weeks with back-to-back Champions League defeats to Borussia Dortmund all but ending their hopes of a spot in the knockout rounds, unless many results go their way. A further loss to Bournemouth also came soon after with the Magpies now winning just six of their 12 matches in the Premier League so far.
