Nottingham Forest vs Everton Prediction

Nottingham Forest should be the favourites for this game, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side continues their charge towards UEFA Champions League qualification. The home side are in excellent home form, with the Reds having been unbeaten since November at the City ground in the Premier League and having kept three consecutive clean sheets on home soil.

Despite the defeat to Aston Villa in their previous game, Nottingham Forest have only lost once in their previous five matches in the Premier League, having kept three clean sheets in their last five games. Nottingham Forest could be set to welcome back top scorer Chris Wood, which will be a much-needed addition to the Nottingham Forest frontline.

Everton’s form places them at a disadvantage for this game, with the Toffees now winless in their last six matches, following their 1-1 draw with Arsenal. The issue for Everton has been their rate of conceding goals, with the Toffees conceding first in four of their last five matches in the Premier League.

That being said, we don’t see Everton posing a threat to a Nottingham Forest who have been excellent at home. Goals may come at a minimum, though, with less than 2.5 goals scored in five of the previous seven games involving Nottingham Forest and the last five games involving Everton.

We are going for a 2-0 win for Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest vs Everton Preview & Prediction

Nottingham Forest will hope to continue their charge onwards UEFA Champions League qualification when they take on an Everton side who are searching for their first in six matches.

Date: 12/04/2024
Location: The City Ground, Nottingham.
Kick-Off: 3pm

It’s fair to say that Nottingham Forest have been the perennial overachievers this season, with many tipping them for a potential relegation spot this season, and yet they find themselves on the cusp of a potential UEFA Champions League place for next season.

Nottingham Forest are in third place in the Premier League, having scored 51 goals in 30 league matches and conceded 37. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are six points clear of the chasing pack, with fifth place seemingly enabling an extra spot this year. The Reds are also chasing their first top-flight trophy since 1990, as the side are in the FA Cup semi-finals, in which they will face last year’s runners-up, Manchester City.

As for Everton, survival seems assured since the return of David Moyes at the club, with the Toffees 15 points clear of the drop zone with seven games still to play. Everton are in 14th in the Premier League, having obtained 35 points from 31 games this season and could move as high as 13th, should they win and Manchester United drop points in their two games in hand they currently have at their disposal over the Toffees.

Where to watch

The game will not be available in the UK because of the 3pm blackout rules.

Team News

Nottingham Forest Team News

Chris Wood has been unavailable for Nottingham Forest in recent weeks, although the New Zealand captain could be in line to make his return next weekend. Ola Aina is ruled out with a calf injury.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains unavailable because of a hamstring issue, and further doubts remain over Vitali Mykolenko. The Ukrainian defender suffered a knock during Everton’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal and was taken off for Ashley Young midway through the second half.

Form Guide

H2H:

The reverse meeting between the two sides was under Sean Dyche’s management of this Everton team, and the result in December was in Nottingham Forest’s favour. Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood, who have both been excellent this season, scored the two goals in Nottingham Forest’s trip to Goodison Park in December.

Nottingham Forest:

Nottingham Forest’s recent 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa has been the only slight blip for Nuno Espirito Santo and his resurgent Nottingham Forest side. Prior to that defeat, Nottingham Forest had won their last five matches across all competitions, which includes victories against Manchester City (1-0) and Manchester United (1-0) and their FA Cup victory on penalties (3- 4p) against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The home side are in excellent home form, with the Reds having been unbeaten since November at the City ground in the Premier League and having kept three consecutive clean sheets on home soil.

Everton:

Everton’s form places them at a disadvantage for this game, with the Toffees now winless in their last six matches, following their 1-1 draw with Arsenal. The Toffees have drawn five of their previous six league games, with four scorelines ending in a 1-1 draw against Arsenal, West Ham, Everton and Brentford. The remaining draw ended in a 2-2 home stalemate against Manchester United.

Everton are winless in their previous three matches away from home, with the two draws against Wolves and Brentford. The only loss in their previous six games was the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby at Anfield.
