Red Star Belgrade vs Manchester City Preview, Tips & Stats

Red Star Belgrade host Manchester City at the Red Star Stadium this Wednesday in the last day of the Champions League Group stage. Man City have already secured their qualification and Red Star can only hope for Europa League football if they win and Young Boys lose.

Red Star Belgrade currently sit bottom of Group G after five games. Red Star have one draw and four losses, leaving them on just one point. However, they are crucially only three points from Young Boys, so with a win against City and a loss from Young Boys could see them in the Europa League.

In their last five games in all competitions, Red Star have four wins and one loss. Bukari opened the scoring in the third minute but within ten minutes Radomir Milosavljevic equalised for Vojvodina. However, Bukari scored again to give Red Star the 2 - 1 win over ten-man Vojvodina who had Sinisa Tanjga sent off late on. In the Champions League, Red Star took on Young Boys. An own goal from Kosta Nedeljkovic and a goal from Lewin Blum gave Young Boys the 2 - 0 win.

Back in the Serbian SuperLiga, Red Star faced Napredak. Peter Olayinka scored the only goal of the game in a 1 - 0 win for Red Star where they had seven shots on target in comparison to Napredak’s zero shots on target. In the Round of 16 of the Serbian Cup, Red Star hosted Radnicki Nis. Nikola Knezevic, Aleksandr Katai, Cherif Ndiaye, Vladimir Lucic and Jean-Philippe Krasso all scored in the 5 - 0 win for Red Star.

The last time out for Red Star was against Mladost Lucani. Katai, Jovan Mijatovic and Hwang In-beom all scored in the 3 - 1 win for Red Star.

Manchester City, on the other hand, currently sit top of Group G. In five games, City have five wins and will be looking to go unbeaten in their group. City have 15 points which puts them six points above the next closest, RB Leipzig and 14 points ahead of Red Star.

In their last five games in all competitions, City have two wins, two draws and one loss. Erling Haaland opened the scoring for City against Liverpool but Trent Alexander-Arnold equalised in the 80th minute as the game finished 1 - 1. In the Champions League, City hosted RB Leipzig. Lois Openda put Leipzig into a 2 - 0 lead at halftime. However, goals from Haaland, Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez gave City the 3 - 2 comeback win.

Son Heung-min opened the scoring for Tottenham and then levelled the game with an own goal for City. Foden then gave City the lead but Giovani Lo Celso equalised for Tottenham. Jack Grealish thought he had won it for City but Dejan Kulusevski scored in the 90th minute for a 3 - 3 draw. Leon Bailey scored the only goal of the game in the 1 - 0 win for Aston Villa.

The most recent outing for City was against Luton Town. Elijah Adebayo gave Luton the lead, but Bernardo Silva and Grealish gave City the 2 - 1 win.

Red Star Belgrade and Man City have only met once, coming earlier in the Group stage. Despite Osman Bukari putting Red Star ahead, a brace from Julian Alvarez and a goal from Rodri gave Man City the 3 - 1 win.
